RE: Roadtrek battery drawer

Has anyone actually read at least the maintenance portions of all the manuals that come with a RT 210 (or other B), and created a brief written record of the suggested maintenance and intervals? It'd be a daunting task, but it'd be a nice project to share here, for two reasons. One, many here have the same unit, so it'd cover those. Two, almost all of the B's share much of the same componentry, so pretty much everybody could take the list as a starting point and adapt it to their unit, deleting and adding as needed. It'd need to specify which models of each item were being used. I have read my Great West Van manuals and made tasks and memos on my PDA. I will work on making a list that everyone can use, or start with anyway. However it will take me a little while to get to it because I'm in the middle of remodeling a bathroom in my stick house. (The camper's bathroom sure comes in handy sometimes!) I did NOT see anything at all about any maintenance for the battery drawer, and it has had problems - rust, straps broke, gets dirty and wet very easily, etc.

RE: Landing Strip for Storage

Call a concrete contractor and have them remove a shallow stripe from the existing driveway, then fill it in with colored concrete.

RE: Purchasing a Conversion for full time living

I think I could full-time in a B alone but if I had to pick a plan I would want an upfront table, passenger seat that would swivel and act as a lounger and a back end setup that I could leave as a bed. I would also want a work table area for a computer. My Great West Van has all of these things.

RE: Primary Vehicle

My Great West Van is my primary vehicle, although I also have access sometimes to a Honda Fit. I love the van for running errands, shopping ,etc., when I'm going to several places. My own bathroom, refrigerator for lunch and snacks, etc.

RE: Keeping the insulin cool?

You probably can't get this in time for your trip, but, instead of a cooler for your insulin, you should consider Frio holders - Frio products. These are things that keep the insulin cold (not refrigerated), by just soaking them in water for a few minutes first. They contain those beads that you may have seen, that are in neck coolers. This will work to keep the supplies that you are using from being too hot when left in your hot camper, or can be carried around with you on hot days. If you have unopened bottles or pens or whatever, that need to be refrigerated, these won't work.

RE: Post Your 'B' Sightings Here

This Pleasure-Way was at the State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. I didn't see any people, but there was a green parrot on the front seat. The PW has Missouri license plates. http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk229/BTraveler/PleasureWayDSM.jpg

Iowa Travel Guide

The 2008 Iowa Travel Guide is available on-line - Iowa Travel Guide. It can also be found at any Iowa Welcome Center (at rest areas), by phone 800-345-4692, or by mail through Travel Iowa. There are at least 350 attractions that are free. In addition, the guide has lists of campgrounds and other information for RV travel. Even if you are just driving through on your way to somewhere else, it may be worth while to look at this guide.

RE: Washing rig in the rain

yea, why a rain suit? Just throw on a pair of shorts, flip flops and a beer. Don't let the rain dilute the beer! :)

RE: Overnight @ Flying J or similar

I don't see a problem! Park in a well lit area and get some shut eye! Yes, in a well lit area, but not directly under the light in the summer, unless you want your fans and vents filled with bugs.

Tutorial for Using the Message Bar

Rodger, Would you please consider adding this link, from the Forum Technical Support forum, to the CVC FAQs? I think a lot of new people start looking around in the forums that apply to their own RV or interests, and think that they only need Technical Support for the forum if they have some kind of forum problem. Most (including me!) probably haven't seen this tutorial, which is very helpful. using the Message Bar when sending or replying to messages
